Weird. What's the rational I wonder? I don't order from GW, but if I did, single blisters would be the thing I'd be least likely to get, since they hit you hard on shipping relative to what you're getting. Some versions of this rumor have these figures being re-released in resin - not really a fan of that either - don't like the idea of my figs warping in the car on a hot day.

I have a hard time believing they're going to resin... Metal is much cheaper for mass production. I imagine they're looking to go all plastic for all lines eventually. I saw an article saying GW turned a profit last quarter, so they're doing something right.

Citadel Finecast announcement coming Monday: http://tinyurl.com/5uleprc
Someone leaked a price list here: http://www.lounge.bellof.../showthread.php?t=15272
So much for the resin being cheaper!

$100 for ahzag the slaughterer and other gems mean that resin WILL NOT be cheaper, I have the new prices and they are crazy,I dont know what folks want but as metals are no longer being spun, if you need anything to finish get them fast, they may no longer be available.

FWIW, the "Finecast" models may include resculpts. More expensive, but they may look better. The prices are pretty unbelievable, though. $50 Jezzails? $105 Blood Knights?

They must also include some repackaging - we don't know how many Jeszzails you get, for example.
Regardless, its hard to see me buying any of these, ever. There were a few metals I might have bought at some point. In fairness you don't need much metal any more... ...unless you're a tyranid player.
Kitbashing, ebay classics and third party competitors it is!

I for one am glad that I have all the GW minis that I will ever need.

Pricing themselves right out of the market.

Citadel Finecast hype on the GW page now. Is it my imagination, or does the Emperor's Champion finecast figure have a bit of his cross missing? Looks like the same old sculpts in a new format.

What I'm not seeing is side by side comparisons with the old models that make me want them more. Although the "No pinning needed" line does cause a little bit of interest....

I'm a big fan a resin figs- for my historical sit on the shelf models. Resin gives you the ability to make some nice edged detail, but it's really fragile. Unless they use the more rubbery resin (which is crap) I don't see how the detail will be able to stand up to the constant handling. Drop a metal fig and it bends or a piece pops off. Drop a resin fig and it breaks, good luck trying to fix it.

I am not filled with enthusiasm. Finecast might be nice for really large models, but I can't see the attraction for trooper sized ones. Plus, the price is ridiculous.
