Kurita Battlemechs by "Rangerrob"
As I was painting up my mechs, it came time to paint a few for House Kurita. Those that don't know, House Kurita has some Samurai and Japanese influences. The Majority of their major House units are painted in either Gray or Red. I decided to do something I call the “Barbershop” camo scheme. Primed black, then wide red and grey stripes diagonally up the mech. Jeweled the canopy glass green for contrast with the red.

In case the red and gray scheme was not enough to make these Mechs scream “I’m from House Kurita”, I kicked them up a notch. I had some old 10mm samurai minis for a DBA army that I will probably never field. From those minis I took their back banners and attached them to the Mechs. Painted the banners white, dropped a House Kurita decal on one side…then I tackled the other side.
I picked up a couple of Kanji books/dictionarys. Then I looked up the name of the mech, and found the appropriate Kanji, then using a Micro pen, wrote the Kanji for the mechs name on the other side of the banners.
