Eldar Autarch by "Rangerrob"
With the latest Eldar Codex, the Eldar got a new HQ unit the Autarch. The Eldar never really had a “General” for the battlefield either using a Farseer who really is just a top notch psycher, or the Avatar who is a close combat machine. With the Autarch, they got their command presence and a unit that has a LOT of wargear options.

When looking at what I wanted to get out of my Autarch, I needed him to be very flexible. Where each elder unit is very specialized, I wanted him to be able to see where he would be the most help on the battlefield, be able to get there quickly, and be able to help with any situation.
I could have put him on a Jetbike, but then he only could have joined another Jetbike unit, so that was out. The other two movement options were Swooping Hawk wings, or a Warp Spider jump pack. Knowing my luck with dice I went with wings rather than risking getting him lost in the warp. For shooting I went with the Fusion gun, Melta weapon that can crack most any tank easy. Close Combat I went with the Scorpion Mandibles and a Power Weapon.

Here are the two donor models. Here are the classic sculpts for the swooping hawk exarch and the dark reaper exarch. I painted these probably 15 years ago. I like the look of the Swooping hawk exarch helmet, and the Reaper body...I cut the two extras I had where the green lines are. The Shuriken Pistol from the Reaper was then cut lengthwise and attached to the sides of the Swooping hawk head to become the Scorpion mandibles. I had a Fusion Gun left over from the old guardian plastic set, and the wings were bent back to give him a more aggressive look.
As for the paint, I tried something new. I wanted to add a “Glowey” effect coming off the skulls on the Power weapon (Web of Skulls, discontinued weapon from 2nd edition). So I added continued the green glow effect down the chains and a little more on the helmet.
